It is a nice question. It is actually quite easy to recognize a female honeybee from a male honeybee.
Female honeybees can be divided into Queen bee and worker bees. The queen has a very typical stretched body and she can only crawl on the was comb, she cannot fly (normally). Whereas the worker bees look like a queen with a very short body in comparison, and they can fly very well (those are the one that can possibly sting).
The male honeybees, so-called drones, are the biggest bees of the family. The cannot sting and you can easily recognize them from their strange head shape, which is bigger than the other bees and has also a pair of very big eyes.
