Hi that’s an interesting question! I’m not quite finished my research yet so I’m not quite sure, but scientists suspect that global warming will have an effect on rivers and an effects on mussels. When there is a lot of rainfall, the river will flood and mussels can’t hold on to the riverbed and can get washed out to areas where they can’t survive. Also, when it has been dry for a long time, the water in the river can drop so low that mussels can’t breathe and eat. Scientists think that global warming will lead to the weather being very dry for a long time and then a lot of rain will fall all at once. So this will effect rivers by changing the water-level and changing how the animals in the river can survive. Thankfully a lot of scientists are researching how to slow global warming! I have collected a lot of data about rain and about how much water is in the rivers, so I may find some interesting changes!
