Question: does it mean that the jellyfish is dead when it has purple on it

No. There are two types of jellyfish which are purple. There are the moon jellyfish and the purple stinger. These are purple when they are alive or dead. Most people think that a jellyfish which has washed up on the beach is dead but this isn’t true. Most of the time the jellyfish is still alive and can still sting. So it’s important to know this when you find a jellyfish on the beach so that you know to avoid it. There is no way of knowing if it still alive but if it is it will go back into the sea when the tide comes in and it might even be able to swim away.
