It is more difficult to hold your breath underwater. The deeper you are in the water, the harder it is to hold your breath. This is because water is very heavy and it gets heavier the deeper you go. When you are very deep, the weight of the water squeezes your lungs and makes it more difficult to fill your lungs with air. On land, we’re free to fill our lungs with as much air as they can hold.
