That’s an excellent question! Jellyfish are very important for a number of reasons. To begin with, they are a very important source of food for sea turtles. Some turtles only eat jellyfish and nothing else! This is especially important when we consider that turtle numbers are decreasing worldwide. Another reason is that some species of baby fish live on top of or underneath jellyfish to protect themselves from predators until they are fully grown. They are also eaten by humans! In some Asian countries, they preserve jellyfish in vinegar and save them for special occasions like weddings. The list goes on and on!
