The three main problems are litter, chemicals and soil in our water. To stop the litter problem we can recycle and not do any fly-tipping, which is the word for when people dump their rubbish in nature illegally! For chemicals we need to improve our sewage systems, keep animals and their waste out of rivers and be careful about where we put our chemicals (things like pesticides sometimes end up in our rivers which is terrible for the water quality!). And for soil, we can try to farm, build and plant forests more carefully so that we don’t cut up the ground and allow soil to wash into the river 🙂
