• Question: How did the recent drought affect the fresh water mussels?

      It affected them in a couple of ways! First it causes river algae to grow (this is like a green slime) which can make it hard for them to breathe. It also raises the temperature of the water, which stresses the mussel and makes it more likely to die! And it can drop the water level so low that mussels are out of the water and can’t breathe! But they can crawl back into the water if they’re not out too far đŸ™‚
